In April 2002
we organized and operated clinics in Ecuador, treating up to two
hundred children and adults in the villages of Del Boca, Del Sucia,
Tes Vias, La Tola, Salima and Daule in the coastal Esmeraldas area,
and at Mojanda north of Otavalo in the Andes of Ecuador. Our team
consisted of Chris Lee, Debbie Mains, and Sue Witt, nurses from
Calgary, Alberta; Violet Shadd and Ray Pantin, doctors from Kitchener,
Ontario; Eliza Cutcher, translator from Puyo, Ecuador; and Mary
Tidlund.

The clinics
were set up in schoolrooms and homes, as well as in existing medical
clinics.
We also gave
interactive classes during the day and evening to the community
on first aid, family planning, addictions and abuse. Local nurses,
medical retirees, pediatricians and doctors worked with us for portions
of the clinics.

We are continuing
with our letter exchange program between students from the Puyo
Curaray village area of Ecuador where we have previously set up
clinics, and students from the Waldorf School in Calgary, Alberta
and the MeadowBrook Middle School in Airdrie, Alberta. Students
exchange letters and drawings to learn about each other's lives,
including their families, hobbies, and the local animals and plants.
Our projects have been successful and we look forward to returning
to continue our work.
