Roy and Erma Wilson funded the Trinidad/Canada Health Care Project in November, 2005. Andre Matthews was our on-the-ground Trinidad and Tobago organizer. The medical team worked with the Trinidad Tobago Family Planning Association headed up by Dona Da Costa Matinez and Anna Maynard who invited our organization to participate in a medical program in three rural areas of Barrackpore, Rio Claro, Maruga and Grande Chemin in Trinidad.
Dr. Violet Shadd from Kitchener, Ontario and Dr. Glenn Gould from Calgary, Alberta volunteered with three nurses, Lori Wilson from Airdrie, Alberta, Nicole Entzof High River, Alberta and Lise Brisebois-Blouin of Okotoks, Alberta.
Dr. Violet Shadd assisted in the Pap Smear Clinics and Dr. Glenn Gould in the Prostate Testing. The nurses consulted and taught information on diabetics, nutrition, hyper tension and sexual health care. The Family Planning Association provided a 40 foot mobile pap smear clinic for the use in this program. Any irregularities in the information and testing that was taken was followed up with further follow up monitoring and testing in the Family Planning Association.
