Nancy Blackstock is a senior citizen living in Calgary who is currently residing at Bethany Care Centre. Nancy is unable to care for herself or feed herself. Additional care is required by Nancy in order for her to live peacefully and without pain and to receive proper nourishment.
During her active life and well into retirement, Nancy was generous in giving to charitable causes, particularly where animals were involved. Nancy set up a bursary program for veterinary students at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, which paid the tuition of a number of students over several years. Nancy also contributed to the CNIB in Calgary to provide monies to pay for the training of guide dogs for the blind.
Unfortunately, Nancy has outlived her financial resources and those caring for her are asking for financial support for Nancy in her last years.
A Fund has been established to provide monies to pay for necessary personal and palliative care services, and medical and dental services, for the benefit of Nancy but for which Nancy is not financially able to afford.
Monies from the Fund will help pay for the cost, either completely or to the extent possible, to provide a personal caregiver for Nancy’s daily care and feeding and other palliative care services, which cannot be adequately provided by the Bethany Care Centre. Also, monies may be needed for necessary medical and dental care services, the cost of which are not otherwise covered by Alberta Health Care.
Donations for Nancy’s Fund may be made to the Mary A. Tidlund Charitable Foundation. The Foundation will provide tax receipts to donors to Nancy’s Fund giving a minimum donation of $25.00. The donations will be received and processed by the Foundation in Canmore, Alberta.
