Bequia - Health and Education

The Tidlund Foundation working in conjunction with Action Bequia is initiating a series of health and education programs on Bequia. Funding for the programs is currently being provided through contributions by Canadian citizens to the Mary A. Tidlund Charitable Foundation. All Canadian contributors are issue tax receipts for any contribution of $25 or more. Current projects are described below.

Scholarship Fund: The Tidlund Foundation working in conjunction with Action Bequia has established an educational sponsorship program for students living in Bequia to attend the Sugar Mill Academy in St Vincent. The Academy is a private school with high academic standards and educates students from k to grade 6. The scholarships are for talented children of underprivileged families that require financial support and include both educational and transportation expenses. Currently one student has been issued a scholarship and additional scholarships will be issued as funding is received and students are identified. The Tidlund Foundation will be providing bursaries for students to further their education at other educational institutions as well. Canadian residents will be issued a tax receipt.

Bequia-Playground Project: Our second educational program; in partnership with Action Bequia and the Bequia Mission, engages the community, children and volunteers in identifying sites and setting up two playgrounds that have been donated by the City of Calgary, Alberta Canada.
