Baraka Community Care Connections

Baraka Community Care Connections
Sharon Mkisi and husband James Mkisi founded Baraka Community Care Connections in 2003. With the help of friends and family, they built a small school for the community in Morogoro, Tanzania. Currently, 53 young orphans and children from extremely poor homes are being supported through nursery school and into grade one. Tuition fees, books, uniforms, desks, and a small meal are provided to each child to ensure a good start to their educational careers.

Since the fall of 2006, Baraka Community Care and the Mary A. Tidlund Charitable Foundation have teamed up with the common goal of providing these children with the support they need to complete school and either learn vocational/business skills or continue into college/university so they can realize their dreams and become contributing members of their community.

Future plans are in place to develop the program to include healthy living, educational programs, water filter technology, microfinance and hospice care for people dying of AIDS and other conditions.

For $1 per day, a child can be sponsored and supported in receiving the education they need in order to offer hope for their future. Each sponsor is given the opportunity to select the child they wish to sponsor and will be provided with a photograph and information about the child along with updates on the child’s well being.
