CODENI

The Tidlund Foundation supported the CODENI initiative in Guadalajara, Mexico with $28,000 raised with Vectra Forum "EO Chapter of Calgary Alberta”, to help with their work in improving conditions for children living and working on the streets there. The children – orphans or with destitute parents – sell snacks, clean windshields and juggle in the middle of major intersections. CODENI acts as the voice for children and works in their midst teaching literacy, providing homework assistance and programs on the risks of living on the streets. Their mission is to empower the children through education. Currently CODENI has 100 children and adolescents in its programs. The group also organizes sports and recreation. In March 2009, Vectra volunteers took 52 kids to the beach which for many was their first experience in seeing the ocean and having a chance to just play.

As well funds were raised by Vectra Forum "EO Chapter of Calgary, Alberta" through the Tidlund Foundation in the sum of $62,000 for the purchase of a building to be used for the purpose of education outreach for street children in Guadalajara. CODENI matched this amount donated by Vectra.

We are very happy for the CODENI staff and most importantly, for all of the CODENI kids that will benefit from this great facility and the wonderful work that is being done for them.
